1970 Charger R/T SE -  440 + 6,   This car is an R/T SE with FC7 Plum Crazy paint. I bought the car in 1976 with less than 60,000 miles showing on the odometer.  The paint was peeling badly and the engine was partially disassembled. I found that it had been sitting in this state since 1972 (four years). The engine seemed to be locked up but I had a spare 383Magnum engine so I took took a chance on it. My brother followed me up the road as I towed it. He said it looked like a purple snow
storm with the peeling paint blowing from the roof and hood as we motored up Interstate 81. I didn't realized it was a Six Pak car until I towed it home and opened the trunk to discover the intake
and carbs. Needless to say I was blown away.  We sprayed a little CRC in the cylinders
and wiped them out with a rag and low and behold, the engine broke loose and spun freely. Gaskets, carb kits, a little exhaust work, and she ran like new. I have had the car ever since then. It has been
been repainted twice because of fading paint, and now has fallen victim to some rust. My brother and I are in the process of a minor restoration of it at this time with the help of some high dollar parts from Year One. Hope to have it decent by this summer(2002).

1970 Charger R/T -  440 + 6  Hemi 4 speed,   Some time in 1968, I saw the movie "Bullet" starring Steve McQueen.  I immediately decided that the bad guys had the right idea with their dark green 1968 Charger R/T... Best looking car I ever laid eyes on!  So after I graduated from college in
1969 and became a newly minted 2nd Lieutenant in the 82nd Airborne Division, I took the plunge.  While on leave at my parents home, I went down to Kirby Dodge in Arlington, VA on 10/8/69 and special ordered it.  Dark green with black vinyl roof, Special Edition, Super Trak-Pak (Dana
60 w/ 4.10 gears and Sure-Grip limited slip differential).  Black interior - bucket seats with leather inserts.  I ordered the bumble bee stripe delete, also ordered side scoop delete, but they delivered it with those installed.  They also left off my hood pin kit and flat black hood anti-glarepaint option I ordered.  I know all this because I still have my copy of the order form!  It arrived just before Christmas and I picked it up on 12/26/69 for a grand total of $4173.91 plus $1.00 for license
and title.  I know this because I'm currently copying this information from them original invoice #10149!  A Mr. Milam was the salesman...  Had a blast in the car for the next year and a half.  After I got orders for Vietnam, I stored the car in Tampa, FL.  While I was overseas, I made arrangements to have the engine pulled and blueprinted and balanced at Don Garlits' shop, which was on Dale Maybry Avenue in Tampa at the time.  Drove the car through a couple years of graduate school and for about four years at my first (and only) job.  By then, I had (and still have) a
serious skydiving habit.  With two other vehicles which ran well, I didn't have time to rework the carbs, which aviation gas had gummed up (ah, the quest for octane in the 70's...) and fix the leaking brake master cylinder.  I parked it in a dry garage, meaning to get to it any time now.  In
1979, I bought a house and literally built a garage for the car.  There it stayed for twenty years waiting.  Although, in 1988 I got the engine turning over and almost got to where I could start it.  Other priorities (married by then with a son) got in the way.  Now moved to a new house with
the car dry, warm, safe, and secure in an alarmed garage.  I have started to tear the engine down and am determined to get the car driving this time.  I kept all the original parts from everything I ever modified on the car, so I can go back as original as I want.  Still has the original block and heads.  Oh, yeah... I remember what I did in that car in my younger days.  My son will get to drive it when he gets to be about 40!
